This shows us wiring up the home cinema and Sky HD as part of the install AV shelf unit.

Plasma and LCD screens mounted on plasterboard and stud walls

We fitted 4 screens today in London. A Pioneer 50" and a 40" LCD Samsung, both on a plasterboard wall. All the cables such as HDMI had already been chased, and hidden into the wall.

A Panasonic screen was mounted using an articulated arm bracket on a stud wall. This would normally be a problem because of the lack of a secure fixing but as the screen was light coupled with being able to locate a central stud with our detector it was possible.

The fourth screen was a 42" Samsung plasma TV screen which was mounted on chimney breast with just surface mounted cables in trunking. We also had to extend the Sky cables. This plasma screen was fitted on a tilt bracket to help extend the viewing angle.

Mirror plasma screen fitting

This Mirror Plasma was installed into a false chimney breast. We first mounted the plasma TV directly to the wall using a flat bracket and this gave us the mounting depth. The cables were chased from the TV to the corner of the room where a cabinet containing a Sky HD box and DVD were to be housed. The screen was then removed and the false chimney breast was built out of plaster board / stud work.

The plasterers then came in and finished the decoration. After which, we returned for a final wall mounting and fitting of the plasma TV.

London office LCD screen AV installation

Master AV Services brief for this large office installation was to fit 14 screens in total.

• One 42" Samsung plasma in the lobby to be used for company presentations.
  
• 42"LG plasma in board room on ceiling mount.
  
• Two 32" Sharp LC32X20E LCD TV s in gym area.
  
• One 42" LG plasma in relax area.
  
• The rest of the screens were mounted on trading floor. These 9 were, 42" Sharp LCDAquos on tilt wall brackets. These screens were mounted on supporting pillars.
  

All screens were fed with a digital Freeview aerial and RF feeds from two Sky boxes located in comms room. The screens in the lobby and board room were fed via cat6 from a PC in the comms room where we converted the VGA output from the PC to CAT6 and reversed the process at the screen end back to VGA. Aerial and sky RF were distributed from 16 way aerial amplifier and combiner this allowed separate control via sky eyes located on screens.

Pioneer PDP428XD-T25B plasma screen

This Pioneer plasma TV and Bose home cinema required all cables to be hidden into the walls including where the Sky cable entered the room. We had to drill through the pillar as can be seen in picture. All other speaker cables, HDMI, SCART and component cables were chased into the wall. Our client had already employed an electrician who was going to carry out the installation but the client realised that there may be problems when he chased in only one SCART cable. Not really sufficient these days!

Subsequently, all the cables were chased into the wall and the whole system was then set up and tested. We then removed the components ready for the decorators. We returned a few weeks later to refit, set up and test.

Toshiba LCD and home cinema installation

This Toshiba LCD and home cinema installation involved chasing all the cables into the wall on the chimney breast. All the equipment

were located in the next room. Speaker package was Antony Gallo, Gallo Nucleus Micro Speaker Pack.

All the equipment was controlled via a remote relay. This clever device receives IR signals and converts them to RF. They can then past through walls up to 30M. The IR receiver which sits close to the Audio Visual equipment converts the signal back to IR which then controls the AV receiver etc. Speakers were fitted up at ceiling level. This wasn't our recommendation but instructed by the client. The walls were then plastered to undercoat finish ready for decoration.
